American streets of the 1950’s, 60’s, and 70’s were a sight to behold. The rumbles and roars of monstrous V-8 engines mixed with the smell of melting rubber were paired with a soundtrack that cannot be rivaled any where else in the world. The American muscle cars reigned supreme and the United States became a mecca for those who loved them.
Just like the dinosaurs, the American muscle car its untimely demise. There wasn’t a freak astroid that hit the earth and wiped them all out. Instead the rising cost of oil forced the auto makers of Detroit like Chevrolet, Dodge, and Ford to turn to smaller more efficient methods of producing power. The muscle car didn’t totally disappear though. Corvettes, Mustangs, and Camaros where still pouring out of Michigan like a flood but things just weren’t the same. As time moved forward and engines were designed to be more eco friendly new designs slowly started leaking out of Detroit. That small leak has turned into a flood. A flood of huge horsepower being produced by massive engines.
Detroit’s big three auto manufacture’s have some exciting prospects for 2016. New and updated versions of current muscle car models are rolling out onto American streets and highways. The upcoming year should also see new concepts of the next generation of muscle cars hit the stages of auto shows around the world. These exciting models will bring back some very successful and popular names to the car scene. The designers in Detroit seemed to have learned a lesson. To survive you must adapt. It looks like they are on the right path. Are you ready for the revival?
